Kevin Davis is hoping he has a jackpot on his hands with his musical about a lottery jackpot. He wrote the book, music and lyrics for One in a Million Musical.  In One in a Million Documentary, we’re taken on a behind the scenes look at the upcoming production of One in a Million Musical which will have a run in NYC in September.

Mr. Davis entered the arts as a teenager and never looked back.  Since then, this multi-hyphenate talented individual is working his craft in some wonderful projects and on multiple continents.  He is just as skilled on the business side as well as the entertainment side of the industry, having had experience in the corporate world. That was excellent training for opening his very own production company.  Early showcases of One in a Million Musical have been well received.  It doesn’t get much better than getting an endorsement from Ken Davenport, a prominent figure in the theatrical world.

The premise for the show is Sisters Wanda and Zuzy invite several members of their church to their annual Christmas party including Wanda’s nemesis Priscilla.  Things get out of control and the group pin their hopes to a lottery ticket.  Through comedy and uplifting music, we see what happens when there is a lack of unity among church members and friends.  On a larger scale, the show is a commentary on the lack of unity that exists in our country.  That was the impetus for Kevin Davis writing this musical.

In the documentary, the producers behind the musical, Kevin Davis, Margie Santos and Joel Roman are interviewed by Robert Rivera Jr.  Joel Roman also stars in the show.  In fact, one of the nice stories in the documentary was Kevin Davis encouraging Joel Roman to take vocal and dance training so that he could audition for the musical.

The opening of the documentary is attention grabbing with footage of Times Square where Kevin Davis declares, “This is where I work.”  We then meet Margie Santos and Joel Roman.  The interview takes place in the living room of a house where Robert Rivera Jr. has an intimate conversation about the journey of One in a Million Musical.

We learn of how these faith-based individuals met and then came together to produce this musical.  They are not only effective collaborators but great friends as well.  The group believes that the show has the potential to be a hit.  They set the bar high with hopes of a Broadway run, a cast album and even a sitcom.  The producers believe that regardless of the faith level of the audience, including having none at all, the audiences will find this musical appealing.  They are going to bring the church to you!

One in a Million Documentary was successful in creating anticipation for the upcoming musical.  We got to know Kevin Davis who is a positive soft spoken and passionate artist.  Margie Santos is sweet and contemplative.  Joel Ramon is a fast-talking funny bundle of energy.  The documentary was an hour of enthusiastic friends telling heartwarming stories about their journey to this production.  Everything points to One in a Million Musical being a real winner!
